Abstract Noun
Abstract Nouns generally describe the name of any pace or person or anything in this universe. We can differentiate nouns in two ways, concrete nouns and Abstract nouns.
Concrete nouns are those, we can perceive with our 5 sense organs.
Abstract nouns are those which we can’t perceive with our 5 sense organs. they can only be imagined.
What is Abstract Noun?
An abstract noun is the type of noun that cannot be felt with our 5 organs. We can only imagine and feel them in our imagination.
Simply, Abstract noun describes untouchable things. We can’t touch or see abstract nouns, unlike concrete nouns.
Words like anger, love, laughter, loyalty, etc. we can’t see them or touch them as in case of a concrete noun like name of person or place we can touch them or can feel them.

Abstract nouns by adding the suffix
Did you know that you can create an Abstract noun even from a concrete noun? Yes, it’s possible.
By adding the suffix to the exact word. You can create abstract nouns from adjectives, verbs or concrete nouns by adding suffix with the original word.
For example, pick up the word “child”. We know this is a concrete noun. Now add the suffix with the word to turn it into “childhood”.
Now let’s make an abstract noun from an adjective. Pick the adjective “angry”. By adding a suffix we can make it “anger”, an abstract noun.
To make it more clear here I’ve given some examples of formatted abstract nouns:

Use of abstract nouns in sentences
We can use abstract nouns in sentences just like other nouns. We can use them exactly like a subject or object. They follow all the rules like capitalization or singular, plural (countable noun and uncountable noun) just like all other nouns.
Countable Abstract Noun and uncountable Abstract Noun
As above mentioned abstract nouns also follow the rule of countable and uncountable nouns. But how can an untouchable thing also be countable or uncountable?
Yes, they can.
In certain cases abstract nouns are countable. Abstract nouns like “hope”, “dream”, and “success” are the best examples of countable abstract nouns.
“If a book about failure doesn’t sell, is it a success?”- Jerry Seinfeld
Here “success” is specified and it’s countable.
In some cases abstract nouns are uncountable. If any abstract noun has a broad meaning, it became uncountable.
“Love can heal any hardship”.
Here love is referring to as a general feeling; this can be counted as uncountable nouns.
